IT Support Technicians work within an organisation’s IT team, where their role is to monitor, maintain and provide technical assistance for IT systems.


  • Tasks and duties
  • Technical user support.
    Assessing issues and prioritising accordingly.
    Network administration.
    Hardware and software installation.


They support system users through remote desktop software, email exchanges and telephone conversations. Issues they work on can range from network systems to individual desktop computers or laptops. The role is often an entry point to a career in IT.

An IT Support Technician requires technical expertise and the ability to work closely with network, security and application teams.
